Mrs. Carey's class enjoyed learning about goods and services that come from a farm. Students absolutely loved having a farm in their classroom to experience being farmers! Learning outcomes for Farmer MacCarey's students centered around naming animals and fruits and vegetables that would be at the farm. Students visited staff members around the building on ponies to take orders for farm produce. Students had to write down orders and add up how much the order would cost the customers. Later, students delivered the produce to their happy customers! Thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped students to experience this wonderful learning!
In David Kirk's storybook, Miss Spider's Tea Party, a lonely spider wishes to have a tea party with some insects. But the insects are all afraid that she will eat them. Then one day she helps a moth whose wings become too damp to fly. They snack on tea and pie until the moth can once again fly away. He quickly tells his insect friends how Miss Spider helped him, and they all join her for a lovely tea party!
Mrs. Carey's class reenacted Miss Spider's tea party by they themselves becoming spiders and insects! They practiced having nice table manners as they served each other tea! How lovely indeed!
"It was a leprechaun I tell ye!!"
Mrs. Carey's kindergarten class was missing their special mouse from their classroom! Following a scavenger hunt of clues around the school written on shamrocks, Mrs. Carey's students finally found him in Mrs. Moody's office along with...GOLD! There was also a box of Lucky Charms cereal filled with objects that students would use for their math centers! Was this trickery really the doings of a leprechaun...or was it this staff person in disguise?! Hmmmm....
Mrs. Carey's Circus is looked forward to by the entire school every year. This year's show was SPECTACULAR!! The students worked on building gross motor skills by practicing and performing circus acts. There is so much planning, energy, and preparation put into this event and our entire school community applauds Mrs. Carey's class! BRAVO!!!
