Welcome to the Laura E. Richards Elementary School
Our Pre-Kindergarten through Grade Two school has 260 students. We are located on Brunswick Avenue in the quaint, historic town of Gardiner, Maine. Gardiner is nestled in the Kennebec Valley along the Kennebec River and is surrounded by farms and forests. We have fourteen classroom teachers, Art, Music, Physical Education, Library, five Title I Tutors, two Special Education Teachers, several Educational Technicians, and many other wonderful support staff. We have a strong, diverse staff.
"LER" is a neighborhood school where many students live nearby and use the school facilities both during and outside of the school day. We are a community of learners who are learning and teaching together. Teachers, support staff, students, and parents all work together to create the best learning environment possible.
The Laura E. Richards Elementary School dedicates itself to the academic achievement of our students. We realize that an optimum elementary school education is essential preparation for student success in high school and beyond. Recognizing our students’ emotional, social and physical needs, we promote their growth by helping them to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, effective communicators and caring citizens who will be able to function productively in the future global society. We do this by providing a meaningful curriculum, best practice in instruction and continuous communication among parents, teachers, and students.
We have a very active and involved Parent Teacher Association at the Laura E. Richards Elementary School.
