Gardiner Area High School

Nestled on a hill along the banks of Maine's Kennebec River, GAHS serves 660 students from the surrounding towns of Gardiner, Pittston, Randolph, and West Gardiner. Our school is part of Maine School Administrative District #11 which maintains the schools in the Gardiner area.

Community Service

60 hours of community service is a graduation requirement

  • The volunteer work may be completed at one or more of the pre-approved sites listed below.
  • If a student wishes to complete hours at other sites, they must get prior approval from their homeroom adviser or an administrator.

Summer Educational Opportunities
As summer approaches colleges send information on Educational Opportunities happening on their campuses for high school students. Below is a listing of some summer programs. All forms needed to register can be found on the college websites or located in the Guidance Office in a binder marked “Summer Educational Opportunities”.

Putney Student Travel:

Community service, global awareness, cultural exploration, language learning and pre-college enrichment trips offered around the world plus Alaska & Hawaii at various dates throughout the summer. Scholarships available

Tools For Teachers

The Maine Department of Education (DOE) announced that all high school teachers and administrators would get new laptops this Fall. Along with the new laptops, teachers and administrators will receive professional development and support.


Although funding for the student laptops has not been secured, the DOE hopes to expand the MLTI project for Maine high school students in 2008-2009.
