Coordinated School Health

Since June of 2001, MSAD 11 has been receiving a grant from the State of Maine. The money comes from the Fund for A Healthy Maine which is Maines share of the 1998 Master Tobacco Settlement. This grant has enabled MSAD 11 to implement an award-winning Coordinated School Health Program.
Tobacco Information and Resources
The Partnership for a Tobacco Free Maine has just recently released a new website available to all Mainers. This website is intended to be a virtual clearinghouse of all information for educators and the greater community regarding the dangers of tobacco use.
Summer Wellness Programs for Staff
Eventhough the weather has not cooperated so far this summer, the staff at MSAD 11 have a lot to be thankful for. All staff are eligible for the summer wellness programs offered by the Health Coaches from OMC. If you are interested in attending one of these programs let Glenn or Sara know or just show up. See attachement for the list of programs.
Wellness Works in MSAD 11
Wellness Works is an innovative wellness project launched in November of 2008 in four school districts in Maine. As one of the school districts participating in the project, MSAD 11 staff has the opportunity to meet one-on-one with health coaches from Occupational Medical Consulting of Leeds,ME.
Sun Safety Basics
MSAD 11 encourages its students to practice healthy sun safety behaviors. We recognize and support the Sun Safety Basics by the American Cancer Society.
Slip! On a Shirt
Slop! On on Sunscreen
Slap! On a Hat
We recommend that parents in grades K-5 do not send sunscreen to school. Rather, that parents apply the sunscreen before school.
