Welcome from the Principal

Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year!
I am SO excited to be back in Gardiner as Principal of Laura E. Richards School. For those of you who do not know me, I was in MSAD #11 for 8 years as a teacher. I taught Title 1 at Helen Thompson School for 3 years and then Second Grade at LER for 5 years. For the past 2 years I have been in Rockland as Principal of MacDougal Elementary School, which services grades Kindergarten and Grade 1. I am proud to be back servicing the students and the families of my hometown.
A positive school climate has the greatest impact on student achievement. Your involvement as parent is vital! The staff and I value you and look forward to working with you throughout the year to do what it takes to help your child succeed and be happy at school. There are many opportunities throughout the year for you to be involved in your child’s learning experience, such as PTA meetings, Family Nights, Octoberfest, Parent-Teacher conferences, assemblies, field trips, volunteering, and other school events that are scheduled throughout the year. Be sure to read our newsletters to see what events are up and coming!
Our teachers have been very busy these past few weeks preparing classrooms for the arrival of new students. This is a time of great anticipation and excitement both for students and teachers. Laura E. Richards School is a friendly, student-centered school where everyone is treated with respect and kindness. We are ready to begin a brand new year! Please feel free to stop by if you ever have a question, concern, or want to chat!
Enjoy your last few days of summer with your family and friends!
Yours in the service of children,
Karen Moody
Principal
