Principal’s Notes
Dear Families,

Students at Laura Richards have done a fantastic job this month on showing a “Positive Attitude” while at school. They all seem to understand that it means to “try like crazy!” Please be sure to take a look on our school website to see the students who were recognized. Again, use the LER Navigation Menu on the left when you go to the website. Click on Star Students…and there they will be!

Speaking of the website, I hope you will take a look at what is on it so far!! There are lots of pictures of students in action during celebrations, learning activities, and school programs we’ve had so far this year. There is also lots of information available as resources for families. I hope you will visit the site and let me know what you think. Really use the LER Navigation Menu on the left side to find your way around our website. It is pretty organized!

The Super Kids skill for the month of December is “Caring”. We are talking with students about how they can show kindness to others using words and actions. Students are encouraged to say kind greetings to one another and give compliments to other students. They are also encouraged to practice acts of kindness by sharing, helping each other in class or on the playground, and by praising each other with “high fives and smiles!” The best acts of kindness are the ones no one expects!

Please encourage your child to zip up! It is really starting to feel like winter! Students will be going outside unless it’s too cold or slippery. Hats, mittens, scarves, ski pants, and boots are really needed for students to comfortably play outside. We do have a rule that children need boots and ski pants to play in the snow on the field. If not, they have to stay on the pavement; otherwise, students get too cold and wet. You may want to send an extra set of clothing to keep at school for those times when students may get wet.

As always, if you ever have a question, comment, or suggestion that you want to discuss with me, please feel free to call (582-3612) or stop by my office and visit!

Yours in the service of children,
Karen Moody, Principal
