POLICY COMMITTEE MEETING
CENTRAL OFFICE BOARD ROOM
TUESDAY, JANUARY 8, 2008

MINUTES

Present: Heather Dunn, Steve Hunnewell, Candace Avery, Ginger Shaw, Robert Brown, Paul Knowles

I. The meeting was called to order at 5:59 p.m.

II. Election of a Chairperson

VOTED: Motion by Mr. Hunnewell, seconded by Ms. Avery to nominate Heather Dunn as
5-0 Chairperson of the Policy Committee.

III. Discussion/Vote
A. The Committee reviewed a Faculty Dress Code Example example. The Committee agreed to refer the Dress Code to the Relations By Objective Committee for discussion.
B. The Committee reviewed Policy IMG/Animals in School
C. The Committee reviewed the new Gardiner Area High School Mission Statement.
D. The Committee reviewed the following MSMA Policy Updates:
1. ADC - Tobacco Use and Possession-No Change
2. EBCA - Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (formerly Crisis Response Plan)
3. EBCF - Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)-No Action
4. GBN-R2-Maine Family Medical Leave Administrative Procedure
5. JEA Compulsory Attendance
6. JHB-Truancy
7. JLF-Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect
8. KHB Advertising in the Schools

VOTED: Motion by Mrs. Shaw, seconded by Ms. Avery to send Policies IMG, EBCA, JEA, JHB,
5-0 JLF, KHB to the Board for 1st Reading.

The Meeting was adjourned at 7 p.m.
