On January 28th our GEPTA hosted a Family Food and Fitness Fun Day at Laura Richards School. The goal of this event was to provide information to families on healthy eating and fitness activities. About 60-70 family members were in attendance!!

In the cafeteria, posters were displayed that gave information about portion sizes, organic foods, and the food pyramid. Throughout the cafeteria were tables where families could sample healthy snacks. There were cups of granola, veggies with hummus and dip, macaroni and cheese made with zucchini and cauliflower, smoothies made with yogurt and berries, fresh fruit, muffins, and brownies made with carrots and spinach. We had so many smiling faces as families tried out new, healthy snacks!

Then families could visit the gymnasium and participate in snowshoeing, the climbing wall, and dancing. You can see by the smiling faces that fitness can certainly be fun!!

Many thanks to all the volunteers and our GEPTA for organizing this wonderful event! It was a HIT!!
