Message from the Principal

Dear Families,

We are finally having a break from “cabin fever”! I love seeing children out playing and riding their bicycles, families out raking their lawns, and nature celebrating the return of warmer temperatures…the spring birds have returned and the daffodils and crocuses are emerging from the muddy mess of the April thaw!

With the return of warmer temperatures, our “Walking School Bus” is also returning. We will meet Tuesday, April 29th at the park at 7:50. I look forward to the brisk walk to school. Exercising is a great way to begin our school day, and I certainly enjoy chatting with students and families along the way!

I would also like to bring your attention to some upcoming events so that you have an opportunity to “plan ahead”:

1. This Monday “The Steelgraves” will be performing a magic show for all our students. There is a 10:00 and 12:30 show.

2. Then on April 16th we will have Parent-Teacher conferences from 3:30-7:00. Please be sure to make an appointment to speak with your child’s teacher.

3. Tuesday, May 6th is our school Music Concert at 2:00 in our gymnasium. Parking at school is a challenge with so many students.

I encourage you to car pool or park at the Gardiner Armory and walk over. Please allow yourselves some extra time for the parking challenges.

I look forward to April vacation this year because of all the illnesses in the building. It is time to spring clean and open up the windows to let the fresh air in! I hope you are able to enjoy the week spending quality time with your families and friends! Stay safe!!

As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please stop in or call me at 582-3612. Thank you and…think SPRING!!

Yours in the service of children,
Karen Moody

Box Tops Contest Winners
The classrooms bringing in the most Box Tops were Mrs. Ellis’ a.m. pre-K, Mrs. Carey’s Kindergarten, Mrs. Cockrell’s first grade, and Mrs. Smith’s second grade. Our school collected $275.70 in Box Tops for Education during February and March!
Each Box Top for Education symbol is worth 10 cents to our school. Students are encouraged to continue saving as many sheets as they can and return their completed sheets to school.

Star Students
Each week, our teachers choose a Star Student from their classroom who has demonstrated the character skill of the month. Each Star Student receives a certificate, a special pencil, and has his or her picture taken for the LER website. April’s skill is PROBLEM SOLVING!
