PRESENT: Mr. Hunnewell, Chair, Mrs. Fles, Vice - Chair, Mr. Brown, Ms. Avery, Mr. Cone, Mr. Farkas, Mr. Heath, Mrs. Potter, Mrs. Ricker, Mr. Trott, Dr. Knowles, Ms. Disch, James Schwellenbach, Esq.
ABSENT: Mrs. Couture, Mr. Jermyn
Mr. Hunnewell called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and declared a quorum present.
VOTED: 10-0 Motion by Mr. Hunnewell, seconded by Mr. Trott to go into executive session at 6:00 p.m. to discuss the expulsion of a student, pursuant to 1M.R.S.A. § 405(6)(B). The Board reconvened at 7:06 p.m.
VOTED: 7-3 Motion by Mrs. Fles, seconded by Mrs. Avery that the School Board expel the student under consideration, effective immediately; that the student not be allowed on school grounds or at any school activities without the written permission of the Superintendent or his designee; and that the Superintendent provide the student and the parents with the Board’s written findings and decision.
VOTED: 10-0 Motion by Mr. Hunnewell, seconded by Mr. Trott to go into executive session at 7:16 p.m. to discuss the expulsion of a student, pursuant to 1M.R.S.A. § 405(6)(B). The Board reconvened at 7:55 p.m.
VOTED: 10-0 Motion by Mr. Hunnewell, seconded by Mr. Trott to go into executive session at 8:02 p.m. to discuss the expulsion of a student, pursuant to 1M.R.S.A. § 405(6)(B). The Board reconvened at 8:37 p.m.
VOTED: 10-0 Motion by Mrs. Fles, seconded by Ms. Avery that the School Board suspend the student
under consideration for two days in addition to his ten day suspension, and during that time the student not be allowed on school grounds or at any school activities without the written permission of the Superintendent or his designee; and that the Superintendent provide the student and the parents with the Board’s written findings and decision.
VOTED: 10-0 Motion by Mr. Hunnewell, seconded by Mr. Trott to go into executive session at 8:45 p.m. to discuss the expulsion of a student, pursuant to 1M.R.S.A. § 405(6)(B). The Board reconvened at 9:05 p.m.
VOTED: 9-1 Motion by Mrs. Fles, seconded by Ms. Avery, that the School Board expel the student under consideration, effective immediately; that the student not be allowed on school grounds or at any school activities without the written permission of the Superintendent or his designee; and that the Superintendent provide the student and the parents with the Board’s written findings and decision.
Meeting adjourned at 9:07 p.m.
