NOTES FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Did you know that the bumblebee, according to aerodynamics, should be unable to fly? Its wingspan is too small for the size, shape and weight of its body. Yet, it defies all scientific truths and is able to buzz around. I am a firm believer in the fact that children will rise to your expectations. So, don't underestimate them - teach them, guide them and let them fly.

A Message from the Kitchen
Greetings to you all! We are but 33 days from the end of school! It has gone by quickly, and will over before we know it. I am just sending this reminder for parents about their child’s lunch account. As we draw closer to the end of the year, we will stop charging so bills are not outstanding at the close of this year. Any balance, plus or minus, will carry over to the next school year. Here are some calculations that I hope will help when paying in advance for children’s lunches:
33 days of school x Full Price lunch: $67.65
33 days of school x Reduced Price lunch: $13.20
33 days of school x Full Price Breakfast: $41.25
Also, please take into consideration any snack milk, water, or fruit your child might buy. Fruit and milk are 50¢ each and water is 75¢.
If you have any questions regarding your child’s account, please feel free to contact me. As always, you can go onto mynutrikids.com and pay online. This is a great asset and is saving on printing bills. Thank you all who have signed up for this program!
Our first round of t-shirt orders are out and on the backs of our children and others. The next order has been placed and they will be in soon! We will also have t-shirts for sale at this year's Peter Pan Fair.
The Peter Pan Fair will be held on Saturday, May 19th. We hope to see you there! Remember: Many hands make light work. If you would like to volunteer that day, please call Cindy Smith at 724-5635 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Raffle tickets for the PPF are on sale now. If your child(ren) have not yet requested tickets to sell, please be sure to return the permission slip or send a note in to school requesting tickets.
Our latest book fair was a success !! Thank you to everyone who came out to help and buy books. We love knowing that we are getting books into the hands of children!
After school enrichment class offerings and sign up forms were sent home this week. Please be prompt in returning these as classes will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Thanks to Ann Plourde and all our volunteer instructors for making these opportunities available!
The PTA will be celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week May 7th - 11th! We are planning special things for each day to honor our teachers! We encourage students and families to take this opportunity to recognize their teachers with a note, a picture, a classroom gift or in any other way!! If you would like to help with the festivities please contact Karinna Dawbin at email@example.com.
Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 8th at 6:00 pm the library. Nominations will be held at this meeting. If you would like to nominate someone to be on the PTA board, please be sure to attend this meeting.
A Message from Our Elementary School Principals
April 12, 2012
We will soon begin creating class lists for next year. Teachers will be meeting to create balanced classes, which take into account student learning styles, academic needs, friendships, the ratio of boys and girls, and special learning plans. Creating balanced classrooms is a challenging process for sure! While we are not honoring parent requests for a specific teacher, if you have input that you feel is important to the placement of your child, please contact the building principal. Please remember, our top priority is to create balanced classrooms that offer the best learning environments for all students.
