Athletic Programs
Students may participate in a variety of Athletic Programs at Gardiner Regional Middle School. The three goals of participation in this program are 1) meeting Educational Requirements, 2) displaying positive Sportsmanship, and 3) developing Individual and Team Athletic Skills. In order to participate, students must have a physical on file and a parent permission slip turned in prior to trying out for the sport. Eligibility guidelines for participating are as follows:
Academics:
Eligibility slips must be picked up each Monday by the athlete, signed by the teacher in each of the student's classes and returned to the coach on Wednesday of each week.
Students who receive 1 failure will be suspended from the activity for 1 week - they will not be allowed to practice or participate in games/matches.
Students who receive 2 failures will be suspended from the activity for 2 weeks.
Behavior:
If a student receives 3 detentions during the season, this will result in suspension from the team for the remainder of the season.
Coaches will determine consequences of single detentions received during the season.
Students may not participate in an activity until detentions are served.
Other behavior problems will be dealt with by the coach and the athletic administrator.
