This page includes information about the Certification and Mentoring Processes. To help you with the process, the following files are found below:

1. PLCSS Certification Handbook - This provides all of the information about certification, re-certification and mentoring.
2. Professional Renewal Plan (PRP) - For those holding professional certificates and working toward re-certification. This interactive form is filled out and submitted prior to completing professional development. It is designed to work best with Adobe Reader but can be used with Preview (MACs). In Preview, the bottom columns do not behave as designed when you get to the bottom of a column. Do not type beyond the space that is seen as it all won't print out. If you have more information start a page 2 for that goal. The teaching standard(s) will need to be highlighted or circled after the document is printed.
3. Professional Certification Action Plan (PCAP) - For those NOT holding a professional certificate and working toward professional certification or for those professional certificate holders moving to master certification. This interactive form is filled out ans submitted by Nov 1 of each year. It is designed to work best with Adobe Reader but can be used with Preview (MACs). In Preview, the bottom columns do not behave as designed when you get to the bottom of a column. Do not type beyond the space that is seen as it all won't print out. If you have more information start a page 2 for that goal. The teaching standard(s) will need to be highlighted or circled after the document is printed.
4. Teacher Certification Standards - Maine's Ten Teaching Standards and their indicators. This information is needed when completing the PRP and the PCAP.
5. Avenues to Re-Certification - Provides the requirements for a variety of professional development that can be used for maintaining a professional certificate.

If you do not have Acrobat Reader installed then you can download it from http://www.adobe.com.

Completely fill out the forms, print a copy, and give the signed copy to your building representative. Make sure to keep a copy, electronic or paper, for yourself.
