Emmerson reviews a book for Library Commons

In the Library Commons, we are thrilled that our fiction section now features genre stickers to help you find a book to fit your reading mood. Many thanks to Emmerson for volunteering several days this summer to help Ms. Butterfield and Mrs. Wheelock place the labels and to the team of students who finished up the project the first week of school. If you want something from science fiction to mystery, we have something for you!

Emmerson was the first student to read and write a book review for a publisher to help add a new book to our library collection for free and earn community service hours while doing so. She read Always Smile: Carley Allison's Secrets for Laughing, Loving, and Living by Alice Kuipers.

Emmerson included in her review:
Carley Allison’s story is one that can relate to all ages, and I think it would be a great book to have in the Gardiner Area High School Library because it is a story of fighting through difficult times and relying on friends and family. It is a message everyone needs to hear sometimes. This book is one of the best books I have ever read and makes me want to look at life the way she did, as moments and to take the best out of each one every chance you get.

If you are interested in earning community service hours for reading and writing a brief review, stop by the Library Commons. We'll have a variety of selections available.

We are ready for a great year of reading!
