Number of years in Band and/or Chorus (Elementary through High School)  -  Band – 8 years, Chorus – 9 years

What are your plans for after high school (college, major, job, etc.)?  -  I hope to double major in vocal performance and psychology to create a music therapy degree.

What honors festival have you participated in?  -  The District III Honors Festival, All State Festival Chorus, Jazz All State Chorus, and the All New England Band Festival

What is your favorite piece(s) that you’ve performed in high school?  -  Performing “Gypsy in Me” with Kyle Capozzi in the musical Anything Goes.  By far the most fun I’ve had in a musical!

What is your favorite musical moment in high school?  -  During the 2018 All State Festival mixed choir performance, we had just cut off the last note of “Let my Love be Heard” by Jake Runestead. The entire Collins Center was silent. Every singer around me had tears rolling down their cheeks; subconsciously weeping for a certain someone or something that they missed. It was a moment I will never forget for the rest of my life.

How has being involved in the high school music department impacted you?  -  How has it NOT impacted me? I’ve never felt closer to people than when I’m creating music with them. It’s a feeling that can’t be duplicated, or even described. I owe so much to music!

What words of wisdom would you share with the underclassmen music students?  -  Learn how to set boundaries and be able to say no. If you try to take on too much, you’ll end up burnt out. Remember to take care of yourself. Finally, be nice to people. It really does pay off.

Congratulations, Caitlin!  Thank you for your dedication to the band and chorus and for sharing your musical talents with us for all of these years!!
