Routinely, we will be highlighting staff in MSAD 11 who meet our mission. Today, we celebrate Ms. Clary.
Who is Laurie Clary?
Laurie Clary is a 42 year veteran teacher who has devoted her whole career to students in MSAD11. Ms. Clary started teaching first grade in the Fall of 1984 at Pray Street School. After 10 yeas, she moved to the River View Community School for 12 years. Then, 20 years ago, she joined the Laura E. Richards School community as a first grade teacher.
Ms Clary has been a beloved teacher by many generations, even having the pleasure of teaching several of our current MSAD 11 teachers. When Ms. Clary isn't in the classroom, you can find her visiting her grand babies in Maryland or enjoying photography, reading, hiking, and traveling.
How does Ms. Clary meet our Mission?
Laurie Clary models our mission daily with her approach to teaching and learning. Students know that…they matter, can do hard things, and with perseverance and the right level of support they will meet their personal academic goals.
A Message from a Former Student
"Pray Street School was a magical place, made even more magical by the fanciest teacher I had ever seen! I have deeply rooted first grade memories hearing the tap-tap of clicky heels and stunning blue eyeliner as the standard of ultimate loveliness. Mrs. Clary gave our little class structure and knowledge, helping us excel in reading and strengthening the warm bubble at that school that helped us thrive. As I watch my own child enveloped in Mrs. Clary's protective structure, I have seen her explode with reading and sink her teeth into math confidence. Proud to share with anyone asking, my child pipes up and tells everyone of the sweet connection we have in our shared first grade teacher! We are in appreciation of all that Laurie Clary has done for students for so many, many years." - Meghann Gipson, former student, current parent, and GAHS art teacher
