What are your plans for after high school (college, major, job, etc.)? - I hope to go to college somewhere in New England and major in Secondary Education.
What is your favorite piece(s) that you’ve performed in high school? - For Band: Pirates of the Caribbean and Music for a Darkened Theater. For Chorus: Bashana Haba'a, Modimo, and The Beach Boys Medley.
What is your favorite musical moment in high school? - My favorite musical moment is honestly just anytime we would be in rehearsal working on pieces and then we'd start going off on tangents and goofing around with each other before returning to the piece and being able to focus on perfecting it. Having that kind of a relationship in the music room is something that I will treasure for the rest of my life.
How has being involved in the high school music department impacted you? - It has impacted me in more ways than I can count. Mostly, it has given me a place to call my home within the school. I have made so many friends and gotten to talk to so many different people because we all know we are connected through at least one common passion, music. It is the place I feel truly comfortable and at home!
What words of wisdom would you share with the underclassmen music students? - Don't be afraid to try that audition. Don't be afraid to talk to that person in the ensemble. As a relatively introverted person, I found that the music department is a great place to go out of my comfort zone. I cannot explain how much happiness I have felt by doing so. I just know that it would be the same for you! :-)
