Voice of Democracy and American Legion Oratorical Competitions

GAHS students have recently competed and placed in two annual contests open to all students.

At the local level for the VFW Voice of Democracy Audio Essay Contest, Emily Henderson placed third; Harrison Blake placed second; and Shawn Jiminez placed first. Shawn went on to compete and win at the district level and placed second in the Maine Competition.

The Maine American Legion Oratorical Competition was held on Saturday at Thomas College. Shawn Jiminez represented Kennebec County. He placed first in the state and will compete at nationals in Indianapolis this April.

Congratulations to all the VFW and American Legion winners who have done such a great job of representing GAHS. Good luck Shawn at the national competition!
