Fourth and Fifth graders are starting to work on division in math. Our new math program provides a variety of strategies and models that can be used for division. Below you will find a video created by our Math Coach, Lindsey Bickford, about the area model.
If you would like to learn more about this strategy to support your learners, click the link below. Mrs. Bickford demonstrates the strategy with sample problems then explains why it is important when learning division.

The electrical power has been restored to the Helen Thompson School. If you have not picked up your child yet, please do not do so, as we will remain open for the day. Any child who has been picked up can be returned, or may stay home for the day without being marked as absent. Very sorry for the inconvenience, we were told the power would be out longer.
Update: Power at school has been restored earlier than anticipated. School will remain in session for the remainder of the day. We apologize for the confusion!
The electrical power is currently out at the Helen Thompson School. Since we do not know when the power will be restored, we will dismiss students from the Helen Thompson School at 11:00 am today. In addition, the phone system is down due to the lack of power. If you need to contact the school, please call the MSAD11 central office at (207) 582-5346.
Helen Thompson school has lost electrical power. All 3rd grade cohort C classes today will be delayed or cancelled.

Trimester 2 Parent Pickup Change: With cold weather coming, we will shift to a drive through parent pickup at the end of the day, beginning Monday, Nov. 23rd. Parents & adults will remain in their vehicles and will enter the parking lot on the end closest to the school (just like for morning drop-off). We will sign children out with each driver in vehicles, and staff members will walk children outside to the passenger side of vehicles.
Here is our menu for December and January!
